I’ve been using Sally Hansen base and top coat for as long as I have been painting my nails. But I had never actually tried the nail polish until two weeks ago. I came across a display in Wilko of all places and the offer was so good I just couldn’t walk by. Well, it was about time I tried it don’t you think? I picked up a bottle of number 370 Commander in Chic, a mousy brown colour which is a real contrast to all the bright shades I have been wearing this summer.
At first I was a little unsure. The texture was very runny and the first coat didn’t give very good coverage at all. It seemed so thin and watery, I wondered how it would even dry! But it did eventually and the finish was so smooth and shiny – just like gel. All I needed was patience!
Being watery didn’t make it hard to deal with, though. The cap has rubber ring at the bottom which gives you really good grip and the large brush means you can pretty much cover the whole nail in one stroke. I managed to do my left hand perfectly!
I was impressed by the colour, finish and bottle – and combined with my usual Sally Hansen top coat and base coat, it lasted 11 days without a single chip. I think that must be a record for chip-free nails – it’s a personal one at least! So I’ll definitely be off to Wilko again for some more this weekend – a deep red perhaps. What do you think?
